About McKinsey & Company Young Leadership Program (YLP)

McKinsey & Company’s Young Leadership Program is available for young African residents from Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Morocco. It is a two-year full-time consulting program that is aimed to develop exceptional local young talent into a global leader. During the two-year YLP, selected young applicants will work in a team of 3-5 consultants who will actively participate in every aspect of client management.

Applicants will work in the local office where they applied and may also get an opportunity to work in other offices located across the continent. You will work in a team to solve complex business problems. The work will include collecting and evaluating information, formulating the hypothesis, and developing and communicating recommendations. You will also get the opportunity to present the formulated results to client management and implement the recommendations in collaboration with the client team.

The selected candidates will gain entrepreneurial skills while helping the best organizations across the public, private, and social sectors solve their problems. You will also collaborate and work with various experts in the organization, including app developers, software developers, researchers, and data scientists. You will receive training, coaching, and mentoring from your colleagues. Candidates will also receive support and guidance from your local office team and an opportunity to practice on client projects. This will help you develop more skills and build a network. At the end of the program, high-performing fellows will progress into a business analyst role.

Who should apply?

· Undergraduate academic degree in Engineering, Economics, Law, or Commerce

· Excellent academic record

· Not more than one year of continuous work experience in any industry

· Proven leadership record through extracurricular activities or in a work setting

· Exceptional analytical skills

· Quantitative problem-solving skills

· Ability to work in a team

· Willingness to travel as required

· Ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively – in writing and verbally – in English and local official language

· Ability to collaborate and work with various people at all levels within the organization
